Tauben & Co — App für iPhone und Android
Tauben & Co
Stand: 31. Oktober 2026
Was ist Tauben & Co?
-
1 · BirdNET-Go
Tauben & Co — app for iPhone and Android
Tauben & Co
Last updated: 31 October 2026
What is Tauben & Co?
Tauben & Co shows which birds could be heard at home. A microphone listens all day and recognises the birds by their voices. The app turns that into an illustrated collage of the day, statistics and small narrated videos that review the week and the month.
It is a private project, free and non-commercial: no advertising, no analytics tools, no user account with a name. It builds on the work of others (BirdNET, BirdNET-Pi, AvianVisitors) and wants to complement those projects, not replace them. If you already have a station, you can simply connect it.
Four ways to hear birds
On first launch the app asks “How do you hear birds?” There are four answers. You only need one.
-
1 · BirdNET-Go
You run a BirdNET-Go station, on your home network or at an address of your own. The app shows it in the style of the illustrated AvianVisitors collage (collage, statistics and atlas), puts a widget on your Home Screen and listens along with the phone’s microphone. Notifications for new species and review videos that the phone makes itself come with version 1.4.
-
2 · AvianVisitors
Your BirdNET-Pi shows the illustrated collage by AvianVisitors. The app opens that page, turns it into a widget and, if you like, listens along with the phone. Notifications and review videos on the phone come here with version 1.4 as well.
-
3 · Your own Tauben & Co station
A Raspberry Pi with a microphone pushes its detections to a server of your own. That is where the review videos, the notifications, the live band and the messages between devices come from, and everything is reachable on the move. The guides for Pi and server are in the works.
-
4 · Listen only
No device needed. The phone’s microphone listens, recognition runs on the phone, and the sound is neither recorded nor sent.
Which feature comes with which way is listed on the Features page. How the three stations differ is in the comparison.
The app
Tauben & Co is available for iPhone and Android. It is still in a closed test phase: through TestFlight (iPhone) and the internal test on Google Play (Android). There is no public listing in the App Store or on Google Play yet; whether and when there will be one is open. If you would like to try it, send a short e-mail (address below).
Privacy
What is stored, for how long and why is in the privacy policy. Licences and everyone we say thank you to are on the Licences page. Who runs this site and the app is stated in the legal notice.
Suggestions & bugs
A station or software the app should connect to? A wish or a bug? Use the short form on GitHub (account required).
Please do not post passwords, addresses or locations; entries are public.
Questions, bugs, feedback
From within the beta it is quickest directly: in TestFlight take a screenshot and choose “Send Feedback”; in the internal test on Google Play use the tester page.
